1ST-APLUMA NATIONAL PRESIDENT

THE firing of a ranking official of the Office Ombudsman could be considered as a step in right direction for the Aquino administration's mission to eradicate corruption in government, especially now that the popularity of President Aquino is sagging.

The removal of Deputy Ombudsman Emilio Gonzales III for gross neglect of duty for alleged mishandling the case of Inspector Rolando Mendoza, who held hostage and killed eight Chinese tourists last year only shows that P-Noy really wants to fulfill his “matuwid na daan” promise.

But P-Noy should not stop here as there are still many bad eggs in government that should be removed so as not to affect those who are honestly serving the bureaucracy.

I know that P-Noy is praying and hoping that senators would impeach Gonzales’ boss, Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez, whom Malacanang is calling as “big stumbling block” in the fight against corruption.

While we sympathize with the families of the three overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were executed in China recently, I believe that we should respect the laws of other countries like they respect our rules and regulations here.

Like the Philippines, China has its own set of rules and regulations that should be followed to the letter by citizens and visitors alike.

Laws are made by for the people to follow. Otherwise, disobedience to the law would result to chaos.

As Theodore Roosevelt puts it, obedience of the law is demanded; not asked as a favor.

I salute Vice President Jejomar Binay for pursuing up to the last minute his mission to save the three Filipinos from the claws of death.

Binay’s “never say die” attitude only shows his passion to help our migrant workers who are in dire need of assistance.

Keep it up, Mr. Vice President. Don’t be discouraged by some persons who are still bitter with their defeat in the last elections.

Kung ibang politiko ito, siguradong didistansiya na sa isyu dahil masisira ang ambisyon sa 2016. Pero iba itong si Binay!!!
