“A PATTERN of a clear attempt to destroy me in the public eye.”
This was how former Press Secretary Jesus Dureza described the latest accusation linking his visit to former Maguindanao Gov. Andal Ampatuan Sr. at the Davao Doctors Hospital last December 2009 to the bribery claim earlier raised against him by a Maguindanao massacre witness.
“Another malicious and false accusation about my visit at a military hospital is being peddled as evidence of bribery against me. “To now claim that my visit was about the bribe money is no longer amusing,” Dureza said.
The new accusation came after an emissary of the Ampatuan family surfaced and denied that there was a P10 million bribe for Dureza in exchange for the dropping of rebellion case against Ampatuan Sr.
Datu Mastor Salendab of Buluan, Maguindanao decided to come out and reveal the story because he pitied Dureza whose name was implicated in an alleged P10 million bribery in connection with the Ampatuan cases.
Dureza said that during the time that Andal Sr. was confined at the Davao Doctors Hospital, his daughter was delivering a baby at the same hospital.
“I waited until Andal Jr. leave the hospital before I belatedly was able to see the new born baby,” Dureza explained.
However, Dureza said that many media friends in Davao and families of victims of the massacre started complaining about the special treatment and accommodation that Andal Sr. was receiving, they asked him to verify it personally.
“I did. I saw Andal Sr. in a small room with about six or seven persons inside. I then talked with a military officer who was around and asked about security measures and left,” Dureza emphasized.
After that, Dureza informed his media friends of what he saw and left the hospital.
