THOSE aspiring for village and youth council seats may file their certificates of candidacy (COCs) starting October 1, 2010 until October 13, 2010, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) announced.

COMELEC Resolution No. 9019, promulgated Tuesday, sets the election period to September 25, 2010 until November 10, 2010.

During the 45 day election period, the COMELEC said, carrying of firearms and deadly weapons will be prohibited. The use of bodyguards by candidates is also disallowed during the said period.

The campaign period for the Barangay and SK polls, meanwhile, will start October 14, 2010 and will run until October 23, 2010.
